Here at Theatre by the Lake, we’ve tried to make our building as accessible as possible.
We are also delighted to offer the following services to less-abled visitors.
Touch Tours
Touch tours of the set (for blind and partially-sighted patrons) are available one hour before most performances - please book in advance. Contact Box Office on 017687 74411 for further details.
Captioned Performances
Captioned performances take place for Theatre by the Lake Productions in the Main House.
Captioning is similar to television subtitling and gives deaf, deafened and hard of hearing people access to live performances. The actors’ words appear on a display unit, or units, on or near the stage at the same time as they are spoken or sung. Speakers names, sound effects and offstage noises are also shown.
You would need to call Box Office on 017687 74411 to book tickets for the captioned shows, online booking is not recommended. When booking, please inform the Box Office you would need a seat suitable to view the caption(s).
Captioned performances are scheduled for:
Northanger Abbey
What the Butler Saw
Bus Stop
Tom's Midnight Garden
Hard of Hearing
Discreet infra-red hearing enhancement headsets are available for use in the Main House. Please note, we no longer offer the service of an induction loop.
